KEPS Aftercare Homework Policy

  • Daily homework is compulsory for all boys in grades 1 to 7.

  • Pupils attending extra-murals must attend the homework classes within 30 minutes of their returning to the centre.
  • Homework commences in the allocated classrooms at 14h00 for grades 1 and 2’s and 14h30 / 15h00 for grade 3 - 7 .
  • NO CELL PHONES MAY BE USED WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF STAFF. CELL PHONES ARE HANDED TO THE TEACHER ON DUTY WHILST HOMEWORK IS BEING COMPLETED. TEACHERS DO NOT SWITCH THE PHONES OFF SO THAT CALLS CAN STILL BE RECEIVED( E.G. PARENTS CALLING IN)
Parents are advised to check all homework diaries every evening to keep abreast of what homework is being done and to see if there are any notes from us or your son’s teacher.

The homework sessions end at 17h00 But homework can still be done at the aftercare centre itself after 17h00.

Whilst the aftercare endeavours to assist pupils with projects and research as much as possible, we are not solely responsible for the completion of such projects. Help must be given at home too.

Parents will be advised verbally or in writing if their son does not co – operate in homework groups or constantly leaves relevant books at home or in his classroom. Please support us if this is the case so that your son knows that we are serious about his homework responsibilities.

Mrs Mills is the teacher in charge of homework. Several other qualified teachers assist in the homework room every day.
